All film and music buffs will know that today is the day that the highly anticipated Mamma Mia sequel, aptly titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, is released in cinemas. The follow-up to the 2008 big screen adaptation of the world-famous stage play reunites Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Amanda Seyfried as well as featuring new characters from Lily Collins and CHER! Yes, the Cher!
Of course, as we all know, the film is once again built around the music of everybody’s favourite 70’s disco pop band, ABBA! so mark this very special occasion and to celebrate the legends that are Agnetha, Anna-Freud, Benny and Bjorn (they’re the members of the band just in case you don’t know) here’s our list of fashion rules we can learn from ABBA…
The 70’s was just as chic as any other decade
I mean look at that head wear for a start. Três chic.
A Jumpsuit has ALWAYS been a wardrobe essential
Leg-lengthening and easy to wear at the same time, the ladies of ABBA upped the style stakes before jumpsuits were all over the catwalk.
Matching with your BFF is totally ok…
Total boot goals if you ask us. We’ll be making sure to match our ‘Dancing Queen’ BFF on our next karaoke night!
… matching with your boyfriend is not.
Don’t get us wrong we love our significant other… we just don’t want to dress like them all the time.
An all black outfit is always a style winner
To be honest we were totally surprised that ABBA weren’t always about rainbows and crystal studded jumpsuits but this look totally worked for them!
As is an all white ensemble
Bonus points for the tailoring of those blazers but we’re deducting 1 point for Bjorn’s gold tie on a bare chest attempt. It just doesn’t work B, sorry mate…
You’re airport outfit IS important
Don’t ever let anybody tell you that a fur coat isn’t appropriate for the airport. Unless you’re flying to Barbados…
More is more.
The rule of ‘less is more’ just doesn’t apply when we’re talking about ABBA! Mamma Mia!
