‘Fashion Month’ officially kicked off last week, with the fashion pack (editors, models and influencers et al) descending on New York for their first stop. Thanks to being the backdrop for stylish TV shows including Gossip Girl, Sex and the City and Friends – it’s often referred to as the fashion capital of the world. A reputation like this can be difficult to live up to, but the Fall 2018 shows and presentations didn’t disappoint! Here are some of our NYFW highlights…
Alice + Olivia
This collection has the perfect pieces to start building the foundations of your partywear wardrobe! Sequined two-piece? They’ve got it. Fringed skirt? Got that too. Kaleidoscopic bedazzled skirt? You guessed it. Polish off your look with undone hair and eyes smokey enough to put Alice Cooper to shame.
It’s unlikely that we’ll ever attend an event glamorous enough to require a Badgley Mischka gown (or have a big enough bank balance) but that doesn’t stop us lusting after the red carpet worthy creations. We’ll be replicating one of the looks with a black roll neck and loose metallic trews.
This years winter wardrobe has basically been made up of a shearling jacket, ‘Mom’ jeans, heritage checks and slogan tee’s/sweaters so we’re beyond thrilled that we won’t have to part ways with them anytime soon!
Tibi’s latest collection embraced a broad spectrum of shades – from traffic stopping red, space-age silver and colour-pop orange. Steal a styling tip from the brand by blending your vibrant hues with neutral shades such as white, beige and grey to establish a more seamless look.
Zadig and Voltaire
And on the other end of the colour wheel, we have Zadig and Voltaire who based the majority of their collection around black and grey with the occasional splash of red. Red ankle boots have been a staple of ours ever since they hit the shelves at Topshop, so we’re looking forward styling them in new ways – from pairing them with oversized tailoring to delicate lace.
Whether it’s directing an Oscar nominated film or designing clothing collections that keep us interested season after season, Tom Ford is one of those annoying people who seem to be good at everything. His designs always have an underlining effortlessly cool and subtly sexy feel but his latest show has brought out a fun side thanks to the 80’s influences.
