When it comes to fashion you’re in one of two camps with regards to autumn/winter- the ‘Yay! Boots and scarves and coats and gloves’ gang or the girls shedding a silent tear as they pack their bikini away and throw snarling side eyes at their winter coat.
It’s inevitable that colder weather is going to arrive around the start of September in the UK – sorry Lookers, we can’t work magic and make summer last longer. We’re good but not that good. With that in mind we here at Looker HQ have rounded up some of the trends you’re going to love this season fresh from the ‘New In’ Pages of your favourite retailers…
Metallics
Metallics are always big news for AW and things are no different for 2017. We’re not saying you have to don a full suit of armour but think high fashion chain mail, metallic leather, studs and lamé galore. This metallic mini dress from Zara is a sure-fire hit for party season and paired with the silver ankle boots you’ll have trend-on-top-of-trend and that’s always a good thing, right?
Red
We’re no stranger to the red trend that’s been all over the catwalk and red alert has shown no signs of being called off anytime soon. There’s a shade out there to suit everyone so all you really have to do is decide how many pieces you’ll be adding to your wardrobe for the colder weather. Finding the perfect winter coat can feel like a total chore. Don’t get us wrong we always love an excuse to go on a shopping trip but we inevitably feel overwhelmed with the amount of choice we have and end up hyperventilating into a brown paper bag. Well fear not red fans, Topshop has you sorted with this crimson beauty, sure to add a pop of colour on those dark mornings at the bus stop.
70’s
Ask any of us here at Looker which decade we’d have loved to have been born in and the answer would most likely be the 70’s. What could be better than growing your hair to your waist and following Fleetwood Mac around by day then changing into sequins and platforms ready to hit up Studio 54 by night? Nothing that’s what! So we are mega thrilled that 70 era silhouettes have been all over the catwalks of recent Fashion Weeks, if you need us we’ll be hunting down our mum’s old flares…
Channel your inner Stevie Nicks in these 70’s inspired pieces from Missguided, add tights to keep warm and let your 70’s disco diva run wild!
Hardware
From studs to hoops; metal detailing has featured in many an Alexander Wang design, but it’s only recently that we’ve spotted the hardware trend making more of an impact on the British high-street. Topshop, Asos and Zara are just a few affordable brands that are offering an array of toughened up styles. Go punk in Topshop’s pierced skirt and jacket combo – extra style kudos if you pair the co-ord with metallic boots.
Mustard
Who knew mustard could look so good whilst not on a hot dog? This autumnal hued jumper with subtle ruffle sleeves does the double whammy of trends, detail sleeves with a colour injection. This chunky ASOS knit is the ideal piece to update your everyday look as the temperature drops.
Faux Fur Accessories
When we asked ourselves ‘what to wear this autumn’, we didn’t expect the answer to be a furry bag. But then Kendall Jenner got papped with a faux fur bag (this Topshop one, no less) so here we are – trying to decide which colour to get. Do Paris Hilton proud and opt for the fuchsia coloured version rather than the neutrals.
