New York Fashion Week kicked off earlier this week with industry heavyweights like Alexander Wang, Michael Kors and Tom Ford showing off their designs for SS18. The fashion industry is slowly (but not fast enough) embracing different diversity on the catwalk, with NYFW featuring more curvy models than ever before. Ashley Graham is one of many models that have been at the forefront of this change, thanks to her outspoken attitude towards designers and their lack of inclusivity when it comes to women with who differ from AMA’s 34″-24″-34″ requirements.
She ruled the runway alongside the likes of Bella and Gigi at Prabal Gurung, and returned to the Addition Elle catwalk to show off her designs created in collaboration with the lingerie brand. It was a first for the company, who had never previously held a fashion show as an official part of the NYFW calendar. So, it was only appropriate that Ashley closed the show after breaking barriers as the first plus-sized model to cover Sports Illustrated and British Vogue.
She proudly showed off her curves at the launch of the lingerie collaboration in a rust coloured Lavish Alice co-ord. The autumnal shade and knitted fabric are the perfect combo for chilly September nights, while the waterfall hem and off-shoulder top keep the look on trend. What makes this outfit all the better, is the knowledge that both pieces are currently on sale – you could dress like a supermodel for under 50 quid!
